Atmosphere
The atmosphere is a mixture of nitrogen (78%), oxygen (21%), and other gasses (1%) that surround Earth. The atmosphere is the sphere that is made up of mostly gasses and air. The gravity on Earth is what keeps the atmosphere still here. The atmosphere is in a position so that our oxygen will never go away. The ozone layer protects us from the sun's dangerous rays by filtering it. High levels of U.V. rays can cause us non-melanoma skin cancer, so this is what the ozone layer protects. The layers of the atmosphere are the exosphere, thermosphere, mesosphere, stratosphere, and the trophosphere (in order from farthest from the Earth to closer). 1.The exosphere is made up of mostly helium, and hydrogen 2.The upper level of the exosphere is the farthest point from the Earth that is still attracted by Earth's gravity. 1.The thermosphere is the atmosphere's fourth layer 2. It begins at approximately 53-56 miles above the Earth's surface and extends to between 311-621 miles from the Earth. 1. The temperature is lower than all of the atmosphere's layers and this is the mesosphere 2. The mesosphere is located at approximately 50km from the Earth's surface and extends as far as 85km from the Earth's surface. 1. (stratosphere) It extends in altitude from about 8-30 miles high 2. No weather occurs in the stratosphere and it contains over 15% of the total mass of the atmosphere. 1.The troposphere extends from the Earth's surface to a height of about 3.7-6.2 miles (6-10km) 2. Its depth is different at different regions of the Earth, being deeper in the warmer regions and shallower in the colder regions. The troposphere is the sphere that we interact with and the stratosphere includes the ozone layer. One way to remember this is: ''TRUST ME in THE EXAM'' which stands for troposphere and stratosphere for trust, mesosphere for me, thermosphere for the, and exosphere for exam.
